Greenpeace Wants Your Hair
To Test for Mercury Levels...

Greenpeace plans to test 10,000 Americans to see if they are suffering from mercury poisoning.  It'll be the largest hair sampling study for mercury ever, creating public awareness and yielding valuable scientific data to support strengthening public health protections, not weakening them as currently proposed. And the testing program will notify individuals who have dangerous mercury levels in their bodies - and what steps they can take to lower them safely.

If you volunteer to submit a small hair sample, you will receive an information kit and sampling instructions, background documents about mercury, and a consent form. Individual results will be kept strictly confidential-between you and the academic laboratory conducting the analysis. Planning for 10,000 tests, our friends at Greenpeace can't afford all the lab fees so they're asking people who are willing to take part to pay for the $25 test. Greenpeace does not stand to make any money from this - it's about collecting first-ever data to determine the safety of current emission standards.

Laboratory results will be mailed to you confidentially within two to three weeks after you submit your small hair sample.
